Sunny Deol completes ‘Border 2’ shoot, calls it ‘mission accomplished’

Bollywood actor Sunny Deol has officially wrapped up filming for his highly anticipated war drama ‘Border 2’. The 67-year-old star, who reprises his iconic role as Major Kuldeep Singh Chandpuri from the 1997 blockbuster ‘Border’, made the announcement on Friday via his Instagram account. Sharing a striking image in full army uniform, Deol wrote, “Mission accomplished! Fauji, signing off! My shoot wrapped for #Border2. Jai Hind!” The post resonated with fans, capturing the spirit of patriotism and nostalgia associated with the original film.

Deol’s announcement was accompanied by the iconic song ‘Sandese Aate Hain’, which played in the background of his video post. Before the song begins, Deol can be heard saying, “27 years ago, a Fauji promised to return. Today, fulfilling that promise, Major Kuldeep Singh Chandpuri is back — to salute the sacred soil of India.” This message underscores the film’s connection to its predecessor and the enduring legacy of the character.

Directed by Anurag Singh, ‘Border 2’ also features Varun Dhawan, Ahan Shetty, and Diljit Dosanjh in prominent roles. The cast recently completed a significant shooting schedule in Pune, including scenes at the National Defence Academy. Ahan Shetty shared behind-the-scenes moments with co-stars and director, writing, “Aur kya hai yeh border..? Bas ek fauji aur uske bhai hain. That’s a wrap in Pune.. onto the next one.” Varun Dhawan also marked the completion of his schedule with a video post celebrating with tea and biscuits alongside Ahan Shetty.

Produced by Bhushan Kumar, Krishan Kumar, J.P. Dutta, and Nidhi Dutta, ‘Border 2’ is presented by Gulshan Kumar & T-Series in collaboration with J.P. Dutta’s banner, J.P. Films. The film is set for theatrical release on 23 January 2026 and aims to spotlight the untold stories and bravery of the Indian armed forces, continuing the tradition of patriotic storytelling established by the original ‘Border’.
