Film Review: Ishq Vishk Rebound is a romantic comedy with some narrative fumbles

Ishq Vishk Rebound is a romantic comedy that attempts to capture the complexities of modern love and friendship. Directed by Nipun Dharmadhikari, the film stars Rohit Saraf, Pashmina Roshan, Jibraan Khan and Naila Grrewal. The story revolves around three best friends, Raghav, Sanya and Sahir, whose lives take a dramatic turn when the Ishq Vishk factor gets involved between them. The film explores themes of breakups, patch-ups, and rebound relationships, making it a relatable tale for the younger generation.

The film starts with Raghav getting scolded by his boss for not bringing out a good story for the upcoming film titled Ishq Vishk 2.0. He then takes the film into a flashback when he was in Dehradun, enjoying life with his friends, Sahir and Sanya. The story showcases Sahir and Sanya’s relationship as the story of modern-day lovebirds, with instant breakups and patch-ups. Raghav, their best friend, plays a vital role in bringing them back together each time after their fights. However, things take a complete turn when Sahir decides to part ways with Sanya to pursue his career under the pressure of his strict father. This sets off a chain of events that forms the crux of the film.

The film lacks in terms of direction and acting. Nipun Dharmadhikari has tried to showcase the lead four characters but lacks creating magic on the big screens. Despite the film being one of the shortest movies in terms of runtime, a few parts of it feel way too stretched. The film gets a little interesting only in the last 20 minutes else from the beginning to the interval and post-intermission, it will bore you to the extreme. Rohit Saraf is the only one who manages to save the film from complete disaster with his decent performance. Pashmina Roshan and Jibraan Khan are disappointing and fail to leave any lasting impression.

The music of the film is also unimpressive. Except for the reprising versions of “Ishq Vishk Pyaar Vyaar” and “Chot Dil Pe Lagi”, no other song has the capacity to impress the audience. The background score is equally unimpressive and fails to elevate the film’s narrative.

Overall, though Ishq Vishk Rebound promises an enjoyable experience for the entire family, the film lacks in terms of direction, acting, and music, making it a mediocre watch. If you are looking for a light-hearted and entertaining film, you might find it passable, but it is not a must-watch by any means.
